Source: Capital One, 360 CDs, rate table, October 11, 2026. Interest estimates are our arithmetic: $10,000 compounded at the APY for the term fraction of a year, with interest left in the CD. Capital One’s on-page calculator shows rounded earnings for a $5,000 deposit. Actual interest depends on your funding date and the rate in your account-opening documents.
Two terms stand out. The 11-month special at 4.40% currently pays more than the 12-month CD at 4.00%, so it earns about the same interest on $10,000 in one fewer month. The 9-month at 3.75% beats the 6-month at 3.30% by enough that the extra three months are usually worth it if you can wait.
The long end is flatter. From 24 through 48 months the APY is 3.50%, and the 60-month CD at 3.60% only barely tops that. Locking money for three or four years at 3.50% means giving up the higher short-term specials available today.

How we calculated: balance × ((1 + APY) ^ years − 1), with fractional years for 6- and 11-month terms. Figures are before taxes and assume the APY is locked at opening and nothing is withdrawn. They are illustrative estimates, not a promise of what any account will pay. For more on compounding, see how APY works.
Early withdrawal, maturity and FDIC coverage
Capital One does not allow partial withdrawals during the CD term. Taking money out early closes the CD and triggers the penalty (3 months of interest on terms of 12 months or less; 6 months on longer terms). After maturity, you have a 10-day grace period to withdraw, renew or change the term. If you do nothing, the CD renews at the same term and the rate then in effect.
Capital One, National Association is an active FDIC-insured bank (certificate #4297, McLean, Virginia), which we confirmed in FDIC BankFind on October 11, 2026. Standard coverage is $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, per ownership category. Capital One also notes that Discover Bank deposit accounts opened on or after May 18, 2025 are counted with Capital One deposits for FDIC coverage.
Capital One CD rates vs a high-yield savings account
A CD locks today’s APY for the term. A high-yield savings account pays a variable rate you can leave at any time. On October 11, 2026, Capital One’s own 360 Performance Savings is a separate product with a variable APY; our best high-yield savings list shows other banks we verified the same week. Use a CD when you know you will not need the money before maturity. Use savings when you need liquidity. This is not financial advice.
