Interest estimates are our arithmetic: $10,000 compounded at the APY for the term fraction of a year, with interest left in the CD. Actual interest depends on your funding date and the rate in your account-opening documents. Terms with empty rate matrices (including several commercial CDs) are omitted.
Two terms stand out for most savers. The 13-month CD at 4.40% pays more than the 12-month at 4.20% for only one extra month. The 60-month CD at 4.50% is the top of the ladder if you can lock money for five years. The 24-month bump-up CD at 3.00% and the 3-month / 11-month no-penalty CDs at 0.25% are much weaker; we list the bump-up for completeness and skip featuring the 0.25% terms.

How we calculated: balance × ((1 + APY) ^ years − 1), with fractional years for terms that are not whole years. Figures are before taxes and assume the APY is locked at opening and nothing is withdrawn. They are illustrative estimates, not a promise of what any account will pay. For more on compounding, see how APY works.
Early withdrawal, maturity and FDIC coverage
Synchrony assesses an early withdrawal penalty if you take principal out before maturity: 90 days of simple interest on terms of 12 months or less, 180 days on terms of more than 12 months but less than 48 months, and 365 days on terms of 48 months or more. You can withdraw interest paid during the current term without that penalty. After maturity, Synchrony describes a 10-day grace period for adding funds; if the CD rolls over, you earn the rate then in effect for that CD type.
Synchrony Bank is an active FDIC-insured bank (certificate #27314, Draper, Utah), which we confirmed in FDIC BankFind on October 12, 2026. Standard coverage is $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, per ownership category.
Synchrony CD rates vs High Yield Savings
A CD locks today’s APY for the term. Synchrony High Yield Savings pays a variable 3.55% APY you can leave at any time (as of October 12, 2026). Use a CD when you know you will not need the money before maturity. Use savings when you need liquidity. On October 12, 2026, every Synchrony CD term of 6 months or longer in our table paid more than the 3.55% savings rate, but only if you can accept the lockup and the early withdrawal penalty. This is not financial advice. For other cash options, see best high-yield savings and best money market accounts.
